I aim to help students enjoy practicing, whatever level they are at. This means lessons will be tailored to each student's interest, while still following a structured progression to help them gradually advance. For beginning students, we will spend a good amount of the first few lessons in developing core fundamentals. Once we have a solid foundation, I will start to add in some exercises. I work out of many books to expose my students to different methods of playing. For more advanced students, I will work with them on developing more characteristic sounds. Course Materials: I teach classical style music. I use the Suzuki books as repertoire for all students (I do not teach the Suzuki method though) and occasionally use other helpful materials such as Kreuitzer and Trott to teach intermediate students etudes, positions, and technique. Through these materials, I help every one of my students acquire the freedom that comes from a balanced position and relaxed motions. A trust is built, both initially and over time, where the student and teacher understand the balance between fun and serious study.
