I am a focused instructor and pursue progress. I come from a background of a love for music that turned into a desire to learn and perform. I owe everything I have become to my instructors, and I try to implement some of their technique into my teaching every chance I get. I have just recently graduated from a three-year master's program in voice performance. For many people, singing is all about having the confidence to try. I encourage all my students to sing out and not be afraid to make mistakes. I emphasize strengths and am always quick to point out the smallest of victories. Learning to sing is about consistency and knowing you're a work in progress. Even the most accomplished of singers are still learning and growing. I believe many students look at a piece of music that seems too difficult and become too overwhelmed to realize that's it's not as difficult as it may first appear. By breaking down music into its components, pitch, rhythm, dynamic, articulation, etc., and tackling each item one at a time, students who thought of music as a strange and foreign language begin to see it as something that just works and makes sense.
