Unfortunately, I've dealt with insufficient instructors in the past, and nothing is worse than feeling like it's your fault when you mess up as a student. I teach harmony, rhythm, technique, melody, and basic sight reading by a two fold approach. First is to really feel into the music. This means learning to listen deeply with curiosity, intention, respect, and joy bringing the meaning of play into every aspect of learning. The second part is to begin with the basics of music theory by grounding fully into the fundamentals. I use Suziki Violin Method, Bastian for piano. I have also been developing my own method, and it's dependant in the students agenda. I encourage the building of reperatore early on. I have also used Liytle Einstein piano method and varies products produced by Hal Leonard. I find the students goals are very formative to the approach I choose to take. I have performed in many Musical Theater productions- Most recently Mrs. Lovett in Sweeny Todd, Operas- performing roles like Cinderella to The Queen of the Night, and I frequently perform with a rock and roll band here in Greensboro, NC. In addition, I also write and record my own pop songs.
