For 2 to 4 year old students, I use Mozart mouse series. For 4 to 6 years old students, I usually use Faber series and older students, I like to use Basien series. For violin, I start with Suzuki method and as they progress I add wolfhart, scale and solos for young violinists by barber. I have maintained a studio of about 10-15 students almost consistently after about a year of starting. My students have ranged widely in age, from elementary students to retired adults who have have wanted to learn an instrument. When beginner students start lessons with me I generally use a Lesson Book and eventually a Technique Book and soon after some kind of Theory Book to learn behind the music. For the lesson book for beginners I like to use the Alfred's Series, which has all kind of levels of beginning piano whether you are 4 years oldup toadult. For the technique book I like to use a Hanon series, which I start first with exercises by rote and patterns until the student can read music and understand the exercises in the book. Read More

Steve is originally from the Binghamton, NY area and began studying drums at the age of 12 with local jazz musician Tony Monforte. He participated in the All State Orchestra and was placed on the Pro-Mark Honor Roll for young, up-and-coming drummers. Steve received a Bachelors of Music in Jazz Studies from Ithaca College in Ithaca, NY where he studied with Gordon Stout, Steve Brown, and Robert Bridge. He was selected to participate in the Henry Mancini Institute where he worked with some of the leading jazz, film, and classical musicians and composers from around the world including Terence Blanchard, Bud Shank, Christian McBride, and Jerry Goldsmith.
