I began studying the recorder in Israel at the age of five. Keenly interested in music, I embarked on my lifelong love of the violin at age seven when I began violin studies with Leon Asa. After emigrating to the United States in 1958, I continued my early violin studies with the late Emily Cleve Gregerson of Omaha, Nebraska. In 1967, while an undergraduate at the University of Chicago, I was accepted as an advanced violin student by Elliot Golub, who was at the time a member of the Contemporary Chamber Players at the University of Chicago under Ralph Shapey, and a founder of the acclaimed Music of the Baroque series in Chicago. There I was able to fully direct the freshman level band. I also had the opportunity to teach the Symphonic Band, as well as the Wind Ensemble. In 2012 I began teaching privately and have cultivated a small studio, which has seen a fair amount of success. We must educate them on what is great singing so they are attune on how to make intelligent comments and constructive criticisms for themselves and others. Students can learn so much about themselves just from listening and we must encourage it. Once a singer has found their voice, they must then learn to make music. The attention to musical line, rhythm, diction, legato, and the intent of the composer must all be developed. Read More

I am a dedicated teacher who enjoys working with students of all levels. I graduated from the Hartt School of Music of the University of Hartford in 2013 with a Bachelor of Music degree in Vocal Performance. The operatic roles that I performed while at the Hartt School include Leila in Gilbert and Sullivan’s Iolanthe and The Strawberry Woman in Gershwin’s Porgy and Bess. Since graduating from the Hartt School, I have sung roles with Hartford Opera Theater in Hartford, CT as well as Haymarket Opera Company in Chicago, IL, among others. Read More
