I have over 10 years of live music performance with a variety of groups and ensembles, I have performed all over the world and I want to pass on my knowledge and experience to perspective students. In my career to date I have performed on Cruise Lines, in Theatres and Arena's and in clubs playing all kinds of music. Read More

My first goal is keeping music fun. One of the easiest ways to start this is by knowing why a student wants to learn the guitar. With that, I can set realistic expectations from week to week and encourage them as they make accomplishments. I try to incorporate songs early on. There is some amount learning of chords and other fundamentals needed, but it doesn't take much to start playing. Read More

The methods that shape my teaching are diverse, but at the core is the Dalcroze approach, which transforms music theory into a lived, physical, and intuitive experience. I begin with practical exploration and adapt each lesson to the individual needs, interests, and learning style of every student. By connecting movement, listening, and creativity, this approach keeps students motivated, engaged, and excited about learning. My goal is to help them develop not only skill, but a genuine and lasting love for music. Read More

We will set realistic goals and create mini-goals to hit those marks. Read More

For beginner piano students, I have two methods books that I use. For young children, I use the Bastion Piano Basics series. It is colorful, fun, and exciting for young learners. It is also very informative, so parents can help their young ones practice if they need the help! For beginning adult students, I use the Faber Adult Piano Adventures series, as this is more tailored to older students. It is less focused on colorful visuals, and uses language geared toward older learners. Read More

Each student is different, and therefore requires their own personal curriculum. The first questions from teacher to students should always be, "What is it that makes you want to play", "What kind of music interests you the most", and "What do you hope to accomplish musically". Some people only want to learn a little, others want to go all the way. By asking these questions, one can understand what drives the student to play, and establish a personalized fun and effective curriculum. Read More

I began teaching private lessons and group classes over 10 years ago immediately after graduating high school and beginning studies at SMU's Meadows School of the Arts. After graduating with my bachelor's degree, I spent four years teaching at public in the suburbs of Dallas, TX and Boston, MA every age group K-12 and almost every type of music education possible from elementary general music to band, strings, jazz, choir, and theory.
