I graduated from Ohio Wesleyan University as a Music Minor. I have been playing guitar for 15 years, and taught lesson for last eight years. After performing in lots of different venues, I have had opportunities to incorporate musical theory with live performances. Playing different genre's of music such as reggae, jazz, blues, rock, progressive rock and metal, I have become versatile in my playing style and can teach people not only on a specific genre but many. I am a passionate musician and performer, and that passion is met with an equal passion for passing on the knowledge and inspiration I have had the opportunity to gain to others. I am a recent graduate of the University of Kentucky with degrees in Music Performance and Arts Administration and am now working on a Master of Music with a focus on jazz and world music at Northern Illinois University.I have had many invaluable opportunities so far in my life, but a few that stand out include opportunities to study and perform overseas (West African Drumming in Ghana, Steel Pan in Trinidad) and opportunities to perform and work with artists such as Jeff Coffin, Bob Mintzer, Wycliffle Gordon, Brad Dutz, Chris Wabich, Liam Teague, and many others. I was known as the "Music Mentor" and would help those graffiti writing kids who wanted to funnel their creativity into a positive musical outlet. Also, I founded an arts start-up five years ago that creates opportunities and a platform for independent artists. So, in short, I am very passionate about helping the struggling young musician get to the next level, and this is why I talk about providing advice on the other aspects of becoming a musical artist, if needed. I had a wonderful opportunity to start teaching piano at the same place that I took piano throughout high school KD Music Arts, about 8 years ago. Since then, Ive taught piano and voice to students a variety of ageskids and adults! I love arranging my younger students favorite songs that they hear on the radio so they can play them on the piano, sometimes even playing rhythm video games on my Nintendo 3DS to brush up on their music theory skills :) I want my students to finish a lesson feeling like the possibilities that they have with music are endless. I began teaching bass in high school to elementary and middle school students. In college, as my knowledge of music theory expanded, I began teaching guitar and voice as well. Students need not be able to read music to study with me, although if we begin a professional relationship, know that I use much theory and classical techniques in all styles of playing on both guitar and bass. I'm currently teach jazz music the most, but I have found that covering more styles as a teacher reminds me of how connected the world of music really is and I'd love to get back into teaching rock, classical, funk and other styles of music. I am a teacher by vocation, because my work brings me satisfaction. I love my profession and treat it as a creative process. Yes, this is my creative process and each student is the material through which I create my masterpiece. I invest completely in my student with my knowledge, experience, love, attention and responsibility. I began my teaching career in 1994, working at the conservatory with students. Although it was not easy to start right away with adult students, I understood back then that this was my calling. Read More

Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.
