So much can be learned from breaking a song down and looking at everything that makes it a song. At this point, I can cater lessons to meet the needs of the student. If a student wants to learn more about songwriting, using song analysis, we can identify key concepts that can be used in songwriter development. In addition to the fundamentals of music and theory, I will guide the student through the mental and emotional aspects of music as well as building listening skills so that they student can identify various musical elements (such as scale degrees) by ear. I began teaching music at the age of 15, primarily guitar and piano lessons for beginners ages 7-14 in my hometown of Parker, CO. At 16 I began teaching my students basic music theory and intermediate instrumental instruction. I moved to Boston in 2012 to pursue an undergraduate degree in Songwriting from Berklee College of Music in Boston, still actively teaching throughout my curriculum.
