Lessons are tailored to each individual. My teaching methods include a warm-up routine, scales, and etudes or songs from various method books, depending on the skill level of the student. Standard repertoire in classical and jazz studies is also covered. Sight-reading, improvisation, and ear-training are also a part of most lessons. For younger students, I tend to focus on the production of breath and basic sounds as they begin to grow into their body. This is to ensure that the baseline technique is there as they find how their instrument, the voice, is growing into their developing selves. For adult students of any technique, I prefer to start with basic vocal exercises to test the agility and flexibility of the voice so that I have an understanding of how their matured voice functions. Music should never be stressful to any degree. The goal is to share my love of music and singing with my students so that they may go on to share that passion with others or just to love this art form as much as I do. I am careful in noting a students' progress and am very attentive in what each student needs to succeed. I am a firm believer in the idea that EVERYONE can sing and the only thing holding us back is the lack of knowledge as to what barriers we need to drop and the things we need to do to be able to do so.
