If a student comes to me with method books or other materials, we will start with those and I will suggest other materials as appropriate. I often have more advanced students work through various scales books and Rose etudes, and whatever other type of music interests them. I'm a passionate, veteran voice and beginning piano instructor who loves helping students achieve their goals. I completed my Master of Music studies at the University of Wisconsin- Milwaukee and a Bachelor of Arts in voice performance from Luther College in Decorah, Iowa. As a young artist, I spend three summers performing and studying in Austria with the Franco- American Vocal Academy. In 2012, I participated in two educational opera programs: Music in the Marche program in LItalia and the Midwest Institute of Opera program in Bloomington, IL. During my time at EIU, I was the recipient of two performance scholarships, was a Concerto Competition winner, and a Departmental Honors recitalist. I performed regularly in both Musical Theatre and Classical shows, as well as for religious, sporting, and collegiate events. My teach experience began in my freshman year of college when I worked as a string/theory instructor at the Lake Country Conservatory of Music in Oconomowoc, Wisconsin where I worked with students of all ages and skill levels. I have worked as a private instructor for almost eight years now and have only grown to love it more with every lesson that I conduct. Nothing fulfills me more than seeing a student perform, whether it is at a concert or competition, because seeing the musical and expressive growth that has been cultivated come out through the student is an absolutely beautiful experience. I have been teaching drums and percussion privately for over 20 years. I focus on the interests of his students and teach in different musical styles such as classical, jazz, rock and metal. I can prepare someone for school band, or take an advanced student to another level preparing for a career in the music business.
