I began teaching my younger brothers to play guitar almost since I started learning myself. Professionally, I've worked for Curtain Call in Stamford, CT to help run their Summer Youth drama program. I also directed, music directed, and choreographed the musicals at Trinity Catholic Middle School for two years. Privately, I've worked at the Schule of Music, instructing young children in guitar lessons. I believe that the drive for learning must come from the student and I'm simply their to encourage their passions and give them the knowledge and resources to achieve their own ideas. Read More

I don't have a singular method because every student is different. At the beginning of my lessons with a new student we will begin getting to know each other. Then we try different things. Some students are naturals at imitating what they hear, so we play to those strengths. Other students are more comfortable with structure and math, so we take that route instead. What I find most important is being flexible. Read More

I always make sure to appreciate the big and even little accomplishments my students make. I will never complain if a student is not reaching my expectations because I believe complaining only discourages the student. My main goal is to make students realize that learning music is fun and a great experience to have in life. Whether you are doing it as a pastime or as a job, I want to let them know that music is one of the greatest forms of entertainment of all time! Read More

I use a variety of method books depending upon the needs, interests, and the age of the student. My vast collection of method books is an endless resource of proven pedagogical approaches that I employ in my practice. In recent years, Ive began using play along CDs that are combined with tempo controlling software so that students can slow musical excerpts down and hear themselves playing along with professional musicians. As soon as they learn three notes, we start making music by playing simple melodies, even on one string. For older more advanced beginner and advanced students, I focus on a variety music which will motivate them to practice, learn and have fun. I encourage recitals which makes it more real what they are learning. I encourage and motivate a consistent practice schedule so they can see their progress. Several students of mine have gone on to music colleges. Read More

I will almost always start lessons with beginners who are children with the Alfred method books. These are a very straight forward 3 book set that takes kids from knowing almost nothing technical about music to being able to play and read quite complex arrangements. Once we get our feet planted in this area I will expand into using chord charts and other materials to supplement. Once that is begun we usually start to make up a list of songs that the student may be interested in learning so I can build up the vocabulary to achieve at least a simple arrangement of those songs. Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.
