Once the student has progressed and has a good grasp of the fundamentals, I will bring in other repertoire appropriate to their level. I graduated with a degree in fingerstyle guitar performance and so I know how to perform and teach numerous acoustic guitar styles but I can still plug in the electric guitar and have fun rocking out. I feel that this cookie cutter approach doesnt successfully work for everybody as it assumes everyone is the same. I have taught thousands of students over the decades and can say that I havent seen two students exactly alike the entire time.
