Having at least some goal in mind and working towards that musical goal will help a student achieve success in whatever they put forth on their instrument of choice as well as music as a whole. It will be ultimately extremely satisfying to express feelings through the notes as we take them from on the page to in the air. Sharing this joy of music will be also undeniably rewarding from student to student as well as performer to audience. Read More

I am a passionate and motivated musician and teacher. I started playing guitar back in 1996. Over the years, my passion for music and love for guitar allowed me to play in numerous bands, covering all forms of music. I later decided to study music under the finest musicians this region has to offer. This is where I honed my skills in Jazz Guitar, Classical Guitar, Jazz Bass, Jazz Piano, Jazz and Classical Composition, Jazz Arranging, Jazz and Classical Pedagogy, Jazz and Classical Conducting, Latin Jazz, Gypsy Jazz, Modern Jazz, Large Jazz Ensemble, Guitar Ensemble, Live Sound and Audio Recording. I teach beginning students both by rote and through reading. We use standard Suzuki books for repertoire and method books such as Wohlfahrt, Mazaz, and Sevcik. Very young students begin on Sassmanshaus since it is very engaging as well as well written. However if there is a specific book a student wants to learn from (such as a book from school or a specific style such as country or fiddle) then I am more than willing to teach from that. Read More

My curriculum is largely up to my student, I write custom excercises as well as reenforce musical notation through transcription of the student's favorite music. Being classically trained I place a heavy importance on technique and the physical attributes of playing string instruments. I can hope to instill the passion I feel for music in my students lives, I believe music is the spice of life and inevitably enriching to the player! Read More

I'm a passionate musician who eats, sleeps, and breathes music. The minute I had a guitar in my hand since I was 14, I never stopped falling in love with the instrument. While I graduated in 2015 with a Bachelors of Science degree at the University of Illinois at Chicago, I was performing with local musicians around the area and taking jazz lessons with faculty and students within the university. Since moving to Detroit at the end of 2015, I have become integrated within the local Detroit music scene, playing with two bands currently, which have played music festivals such as the Hamtramck Music Festival and the Detroit Concert of Colors. Students should have fun!!! Learning how to improvise and create your own music is a skill every child can learn. I create play-along videos so that you can practice at home... I present information in an educational and entertaining way for a living. A high achiever from a young age, I performed in Carnegie Hall at age 19, and was professor at two Universities by age 22. I've studied privately with the head of both Julliard's and Yale's guitar departments. Read More

My teaching experience dates back approximately five years, and I've taught to students as young as 8 to as old as 20. With all of my students, I tailor my lesson plans to their specific needs. I like to find out why my students want to play guitar, what they want to play, and foster their continuing growth by teaching them what they want to learn. I will never force knowledge upon any student who doesn't want to learn it, or simply won't benefit from it. Read More

Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.
