At the very beginning level I would start with fundamentals from whatever book I feel would be best for the student depending on their age and knowledge. Beforehand I definitely will need to asses their knowledge so I can do so accordingly. I'm make sure to include ways to properly develop your ability to utilize music theory training from an early stage. Throughout lessons and into the skill level of moderate to intermediate, I'll use sound clips as examples to fully ensure that you as the student are grasping the concepts and can hear how to improve and approach creating musical notes using the tools that exist.
