Since my graduate degree days 25 years ago , I have been steadily teaching both as a private instructor, and in classroom situations... I'll confess that, while group lessons do foster an energy that can be exciting, the reality of dividing my teaching attention between multiple students is not quite as exciting at putting ALL my effort and attention int one private student! As a choir director, I not only have the opportunity to teach "voice," but "musicality," and I find that to be an highly satisfying experience! Read More

My teaching experience began when I was working on my Associate of Arts in music production and sound technology. Having been trained in music theory and classical guitar from the University of Chile for three years, by the time I started college, I was able to help many students. I mostly gave guitar and singing lessons, but also did tutoring in music theory. I have been teaching music ever since. Read More

I began giving lessons after graduating from high school in 2017 and continued offering lessons both in-person and online when I went off to study at the University of the Pacific's Conservatory of Music. After graduating, I spent about 5 months working with my local Guitar Center offering lessons to people of all ages and in a variety of genres and styles. I primarily teach guitar, but as a music therapist, a significant portion of my experience includes singing with guitar accompaniment, so I am always open to teaching guitar students who are also interested in developing their vocal skills (all instrumentalists should know how to sing!). I have taught guitar throughout my career, working with beginners through advanced students, teaching both finger-style and flatpick techniques as well as why the chords fit together (music theory). I like to teach lessons that move step-by-step, with each lesson building on the one before, so that the student can see the improvement as they move ahead. I recently published the guitar instruction manual "Sounding Good on One Guitar". In college my singing won scholarships and awards where I helped singers develop character for their roles in opera productions. Read More

I Love teaching music, and love helping others progress on their musical journeys! I've played music for as long as I can remember, and spent my childhood learning just about every instrument I could get my hands on. As a young adult, I rigorously practiced piano and studied music theory, eventually writing an 80 page thesis analyzing jazz piano improvisation in college. Now, I like to spread my love of music by showing others how much joy it has brought to my life, and helping them to experience that same joy. Read More

My teaching experience goes back to the late seventies where I started to teach kids in the neighborhood the guitar. As I got older and more knowledgeable about jazz and blues, I taught on a part time basis shareing what I was learning through my own studies with my students. Now many years later I have an excellent knowledge of the guitar and want to teach students how to completely understand it. Read More

My primary goal as a teacher is to develop a love of music within the students. I'm more interested in developing Artists than I am developing "Performers". Perfection is not something that I aspire to as an Artist. Sometimes perfection, and striving for impeccable technique can become on of the biggest hinderances for a Musician to truly embody the stage, and show their passion. While I do have a focus on technique, I tend to find it within the student through their artistry, and I try to allow for that artistry to be the catalyst. Read More
