I also taught youth and teen band classes and clinics at Plugged In Band Program in Needham, MA from 2005 to 2018, prior to moving to Los Angeles in January 2019. I first started learning the guitar in high school. I found I had an affinity for the instrument so I continued to study classical guitar and piano in college. I first started giving lessons my junior year in college and have continued to teach ever since. I am also currently the music director for the Yorba Linda United Methodist Church in Yorba Linda California. For all students from beginners to adults I use Alfred's Piano books as they are very transparent and easy to follow. I also strongly believe that even beginner students as early as 4 can learn scales and chords even though many teachers don't introduce such things until they reach an older age and have more experience. It is very apparent to me that many teachers under estimate how truly brilliant children are and how they can soak up material much more quickly at a younger age. Read More

I always keep an open attitude and make my lessons energetic and exciting, while still being constructive. I love seeing my students' faces light up when they hear a cool lick, or when they nail a song they've been working on. That feeling makes the whole experience worth it for me, and I feel very lucky to teach music for a living. My style is closer to the Russian style than to the American style. This tends to involve more discipline, an emphasis on focus and concentration, and a more direct communicative approach. I don't usually mince words, although I am very supportive and gentle. My students seldom suffer self-confidence problems, because we are always too concerned with improving ourselves.
