I have been playing guitar for over 40 years. I am well versed in mant different styles and techniques. I believe that playing guitar is an ongoing, never-ending learning experience. I have learned many things from playing with other musicians either with a band or when just jamming with other guitarists. I have taught private lessons on and off for about 5 years to children and adults. Because music is an ongoing learning experience, many times I also become teacher when playing with less experienced musicians. Read More

It is very important to set a high standard of playing and technique, so that learning is constantly happening. That said, that standard should be approached with compassion and humor, casting the lifelong pursuit of virtuosity an exciting challenge even when it's frustrating. Especially with youth, cultivating a positive attitude and discipline is a key to success. This can be done through musical study. It is important to me to keep the student engaged, and be clear about their motivations for studying: their parents and their own unique drive. Read More

I started out as a percussionist, studying throughout high school and in to college at the Berklee College of Music in Boston. During my time in Boston, I discovered a bustling bluegrass music scene and my focus switched to stringed instruments, namely the mandolin and the violin. Since College, I have been using all veins of traditional music to join in and build communities of artists. I'm very well connected in the New York City Bluegrass, Irish, and Jazz scenes. Read More

My teaching experience dates back to my college days, and I have been routinely teaching students in my home studio and online for the previous eight years. One of the major elements I want to emphasize for younger students is encouraging frequent practice on a consistent schedule, as it assists the student advance and developing a passion for the instrument. I've also discovered that combining classical and modern music can help pupils appreciate the piano and drive them to practice and learn more. Read More

I create and tailor my lesson plans and course to each student. In general we balance working on technique, tone, repertoire (songs) and improvising/composing. I always pick music to study that the student is interested in as well as classic pieces that are timeless relics in the music world. I have several method books that I also work out of such as the Hal Leonard Guitar Method, Jazz Bass Method, George Vance, Simandl and several more. Read More

My teaching style is very unique and I call it the chameleon music style. Just like the chameleon changes color to his surrounding environment, I like to be open for change. According to the students needs and convent from the parents I can push the students to excellent technical abilities, but I can also be fun and not make the lessons boring. In my music studio there are no judgements and no shaming. Read More

The first teaching concept I focus on is the capacity to produce great sounds with the least amount of effort. Therefore I spend some time in getting the student to play very relaxed to create a relationship with body and mind, I believe music is an extension of the body and so if the mind and body are relaxed then music will come out flawless. We will use students ideas of songs they are interested in learning as well as some of my own suggestions for repertoire. Read More
