I have experience participating in, working with, and conducting college level choirs and I am still gaining experience. I have also passed Piano Proficiency in my undergrad education. This proficiency test covers major and minor scales in all twelve keys in two octaves with proper fingering, playing a piece from memory, sight reading open score (a four-part choral work), and I have had to harmonize a melody using the three basic I, IV, V7 chords in a major key and i, iv, V7 chords in a minor key. My teaching experiences started shortly after I started playing. My younger brother, Joe. wanted to learn to play so I taught him basic chords as well as how to play rudimentary bass guitar. He stayed with bass for a year or so then went totally to guitar, eventually becoming a touring musician for several years, owned a music store and recorded with Christopher Cross, Molly Hatchett, Irons in the Fire and others. My teaching experience started when I was in high school. Being a son of two teachers I was compelled to become a tutor. I was my first student. Teaching myself how to play the piano and gutiar. My father taught me methods of how to learn and thats what I use to teach. I gained more experience helping people write essays and do home work. Over the summer I worked with children in summer camps..working with children with autism . in college I became a tutor for the English department. Read More

I first find out a little bit about my students musical likes and taste, or, with younger students, find somethingfun that interests them, just to find some common ground. I also find out a students long term goals. For instance, if a student seeks to be a opera singer as opposed to a worship leader, the training needs to be more pointed towards classical pieces and Arias instead of learning church music and how to engage a crowd. Nothing is more rewarding than seeing one of my students develop a passion for music! Therefore, it's important that each student progresses at his or her own pace. I encourage this by setting realistic goals for my students at each lesson. Acknowledging accomplishments helps fuel a students desire to progress, and makes students eager to learn more. By trying to find out what inspires the student, I can successfully tailor my instruction to their wants and needs. Read More

My teaching style is to keep things fun and stress free. I really like to listen to what the student wants to get out of the lessons. Some might be more interested in theory and technique while other's goals might be more interested in learning songs to get out and play. I also like to introduce students to new things that can help in advancing their skills and knowledge. Each student is an individual and advances at their own pace. Read More

I have a love and passion for music and I am equally passionate about passing on all of the knowledge I have gained over my years to the students I get to work with. In 2013, I graduated from Berklee College of Music with a degree in Electric Bass Performance. At Berklee, I was mentored by some of the most amazing musicians in the world and I am delighted to get opportunities to mentor others like I was while in school. Read More
