I began teaching music at the age of 15, primarily guitar and piano lessons for beginners ages 7-14 in my hometown of Parker, CO. At 16 I began teaching my students basic music theory and intermediate instrumental instruction. I moved to Boston in 2012 to pursue an undergraduate degree in Songwriting from Berklee College of Music in Boston, still actively teaching throughout my curriculum. I have now taught over 200 students ages 4 to 64 a wide variety of music-related subjects, including: piano, guitar, bass, voice, music theory, D.A.W. and notation software, and contemporary songwriting. My day job is in IT, but my passion is music! I picked up a bass guitar at 12 years old and an acoustic guitar at age 15. I became a drummer at age 16. Now I am a seasoned musician, but more important- I am a 40 year old husband and father of 2 boys. I love giving children the knowledge and skills they need to express themselves through music. My musical career has not been glamorous. Read More

The most important part in my teaching style is my ability to cater the lessons to each individual student. Not every student is on the same level or interested in the same things. It's important to keep the student interested and help them truly uncover their passion for music by letting them lead me to the appropriate places they want to go. Once I know where it is each student wants to take their music then I can teach them the skills they need to become really incredible musicians. Read More

I like to have my students set realistic goals for themselves which help to inspire them when they meet a goal with flying colors! Myteaching methods involve basic theory, sight reading, ear training, picking techniques, and many other aspects. Read More

I like starting with the song approach. Learning a song you love is a fun process that will keep you motivated to keep learning more. I have a way of simplifying songs so anyone can start playing guitar within a few lessons. I also have a very patient teaching method that my students appreciate. I do refer to a few books by Hal Leonard or Alfred to get the students on the right track. Read More

I have been teaching guitar to people of all ages and abilities for the past 7 years and believe that NO ONE is untalented and EVERYONE can learn.  I believe the key to enjoying the guitar and expressing yourself on the guitar is to make the technique of playing the guitar easy and fluent.  In my studio I emphasize making the technique easy in repertoire and exercises appropriate for the level of the student.
