I generally ask what your musical interests are and then I find a method specific for each person. I work on identifying chords, improvisation,playing melodies and song writing as well. I am a fan of William levitts books or jazz guitar which is a method I learned at berklee and is a very useful book for picking teqnique in a fun way , exploring some classical etudes for electrical guitar and i find this to be a great tool for developing speed, ear training and identifying chords with different sonorities to them. My approach to teaching really varies depending on the students specific needs. For absolute beginners, I can tend to follow a more concrete progression, but depending on who the student is, and what they're level of passion may be for learning something specific, the lesson may be highly specific. If the student is interested, I personally like to give them an understanding of some of the theory as they go along, even if they are a beginner because I believe it helps them to see the bigger picture.
