While it would be wonderful if all of my students became virtuosi musicians, I understand that sometimes math class may be at the forefront of their attention. That said, practice is still required. I think of teaching as a learning experience for both parties in that I get to go over my fundamentals and at the same time get to see someone else benefit from it.
