I emphasize tone production, phrasing, and expressive interpretation, drawing from the traditions of Segovia, Tarrega, and Villa-Lobos. I also create custom lesson plans tailored to each students progress and interests. For children, I incorporate games and familiar tunes to maintain engagement while reinforcing fundamentals. My methods for teaching involve the topics I learned in my Guitar Technique course. I introduce the CAGED System. Where basic open position chords are moved around the fretboard to cover scale shapes, and arpeggios. This is a great way to map the fretboard, and provide positions to improvise on solos. Iencourage students learn what I find is important for them to progress and eventually teach themselves,but I make sure not to exceed the pace of the individual student. At the same time, I make sure that the students are learning something that they consider enjoyable. I might ask if there is a particular song or style they are interested in learning.
