I am a passionate teacher and performer and I love what I do. In 2015, I graduated with a Double Degree in both Music Performance for Jazz Guitar as well as Spanish Language and Cultures. I teach Beginner Guitar at The University of Maryland's Art and Learning Center and I have a private teaching practice in my studio in Mount Rainier. I prefer a flexible and patient teaching method and I have never recieved a negative review from a student. Read More

Every student has different goals ,wants and needs..and it is for this matter that an individual and personal approach is needed to address those musical aspects, catered and tailored specifically geared towards their learning the instrument.I use various resources at my disposal: books,mp3s and videos and my many years of experience and knowledge of performing and teaching. For classical: I use the Matteo Carcassi Method Book, Fernando Sor and Mel Bay's Complete Method for Classical Guitar. Read More

In high school I won the MD Distinguished Scholarship in music performance, which allowed me to pursue a career in music performance. I attended UMBC and completed a music performance degree. Later I earned a degree in Music Education, and have been teaching in public school since 2003. I've taught privately, in after school Guitar Ensembles and Rock n Roll Workshops, as well as Life-Long Learning Classes. My students have gone on to attend Peabody Conservatory and the Berkeley School of Music. Read More

I have been working with children since I began working with Bar-T Summer Camps in 2007 at age 13. In my second year at Berklee College of Music, I decided to pursue music education. I have always been fascinated in music instruction. I have taught ages 5-18 in many different music fields like composition, arranging, performance, composition and theory. My main instrument is the Alto Saxophone and I have enjoyed playing the instrument on many stages and other performance areas. Read More

There has been a lot that I have learned over my musical journey thus far. Teaching has been a fulfilling way to do share that! Building consistent processes for learning and practicing have proven very useful for students and myself alike. I make it a priority to structure lessons around every individual's musical goals and interests. Students will learn methods for their own artistic expression. Some facilitations of this could be songwriting, learning favorite songs, expanding knowledge of music theory, performance skills and much more! Read More

First I like to get a snap shot of the student's goals and sources of inspiration, once I figure that out I can tailor my instruction around their wants and needs. I see myself as an accountability partner with my students and so I help my students set goals for their progress, celebrate their successes, and evaluate the shortfalls. I encourage loved ones to be a supportive and active part of the process as that encouragement can fuel a student's desire to grow. Read More

I love to see my students overcome challenges in music. My music teacher used to say, "nothing is hard, or difficult, just challenging." If students learn how to practice effectively on their own, learning new music becomes easier over time. I teach my students how to approach a certain rhythm, phrase, or fingering and the techniques to do so correctly such as by slowing down and practicing with a metronome, our muscle memory will be able to play it up to speed once it's learned.
