I can tailor my guitar lessons to the needs of every student. Practice is required but I prefer to call it FUN. If you practice daily I guarantee that you will notice progress and discover something new every lesson. I first started as a classical player to teach students about classical guitar. I can also teach students interested in improving their finger-style technique. For these students interested in Jazz, you have found one of the more encouraging teachers around who will show you both the tradition of the instrument and encourage pursuing your own style through writing your own compositions. I have been teaching guitar in NYC for the last 20+ years to both adults and kids. During that time I have also played in many bands working in New York City, Connecticut, New Jersey, and beyond, playing guitar, singing, and recording, co-leading the bands Mixtape and Small Multiples + recorded at the well known Bunker Studio by producer Aaron Nevezie. I received my BFA in jazz guitar performance from the New School in 2001 and also teach guitar at the Bank Street school on the upper west side of Manhattan. Read More

I usually start by assessing my student's current level. If my student is a complete beginner, I have a tried and true method of getting them started quickly. Once the student has mastered the fundamentals, I will present additional exercises and songs to work on. For students that are already experienced players, I create a lesson plan that matches their level and their goals. Usually, I work on songs, incorporate technique and music theory exercises, and do not just learn them boringly. Read More

I began teaching privately in high school- mainly teaching my younger fellow students. During college I taught at two private lesson studios in New Jersey. I expanded the instruments I offered there, and met students young and old, and over time, I learned how different people of different ages and backgrounds learned and understood music. I now currently teach both privately and at a private studio in Queens. My teaching method is highly evolved, tuning into the personality and capabilities of each student, reacting lesson by lesson to offer material and methods that will be most helpful to them. Instruments: Piano Guitar Voice

I think voice especially has always been viewed as a bit of a mystery... you can't see or touch your voice as you sing, unlike playing instruments, so there's a certain amount of imagination that has to be involved. I do my best to straddle making singing as tangible as I can, and approach things somewhat scientifically ("This muscle is used in this way," etc.) while also inspiring visualization ("Send your sound out into the distance," etc.) I also really think it's important for musicians to be diverse, so not only will we learn chord and strumming patterns on a guitar, we'll also learn how to read simple lead lines of solos, etc. Read More

Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm.
