In 4th grade I got a recorder and from then on I've soaked up all the music experiences around me. I fondly remember my first solo performance was 5th grade, and my first honor band was that summer. By my senior year of high school I had been involved in a couple dozen honor bands/choirs/orchestras including an amazing tour of Europe in a 200 person band! Learning how to manage that goal can be tricky. I like to work together with students to take their goals and break them down smaller into more manageable pieces for them to master. For beginning students I start with the basics of music theory, and demonstrating how this theory is used in rock n' roll, blues, and classical depending on what the student is interested. for intermediate students I aim to build upon their knowledge and help them discover more music, and build a greater understanding of music theory. For advanced students I focus on guiding their studies to a greater level through analysis of historically great pieces, the study of harmony, and how to capture and retain the emotional and mental intrigue of the audience.
