I have a Bachelor of Arts in Music and in Psychology from Williams College and have been playing the flute since I was 9. I have performed in various ensembles such as the Berkshire Symphony Orchestra, the I/o New Music Festival, various musical theatre pit orchestras, and the Massachusetts Youth Wind Ensemble at the New England Conservatory. Born in Tehran, Nava P. started her musical training at the age of 10. After years of training, she later moved to the United States to pursue her passion at the University of Utah under the guidance of Professor Caitlyn Valovick Moore (Piccolo Player in the Utah Symphony) and Lisa Byrnes (Associate Principal Flute in the Utah Symphony) on the Matthews Music Scholarship and the Gochnour Flute Scholarship. I also worked as a School Aged Child Care Leader at Sandburg Elementary School from 2015 to 2018, further honing my skills in working with children ages 5 to 11. In 2019, I attended Marrowstone Music Festival as a Fellow. This gave me the opportunity to mentor high school and undergraduate flutists individually and during sectionals and to coach a student wind quintet. As a flutist trained with teachers in jazz, classical, and pop, I am experienced playing and teaching many styles including classical, opera, swing, pop, and musicals. Along with the flute, I hope students will also learn music theory, orchestration, and singing. By giving students a holistic musical education, I facilitate a rewarding experience for students.
