I began teaching privately in high school- mainly teaching my younger fellow students. During college I taught at two private lesson studios in New Jersey. I expanded the instruments I offered there, and met students young and old, and over time, I learned how different people of different ages and backgrounds learned and understood music. I now currently teach both privately and at a private studio in Queens. For beginner students young and old I start out with Rubank Elementary Method for saxophone. This book provided a solid foundation in basic theory and reading that lead to musical literacy. From there I go towards the basics of improvisation in the blues while continuing with technique books on the side. Once this foundation is in place I begin to encourage the student to explore music they're passionate about and start with the basics of solo transcription and more advanced improvisation. Read More

Effective music education is both developmentally and culturally appropriate: By working with the student to understand their interests, I hope to provide them with an experience that will enrich their musical and social life outside of the work we do together. Through infancy, I believe Music Learning Theory is effective for developing musical and linguistic skills. If a student in toddlerhood/childhood shows that they have a preferred way to express themselves musically, I will tailor lessons around the Kodaly (voice), Orff (instrumental), or Dalcroze (dance) philosophies. I began teaching music when I was 18, I began teaching private drums and piano lessons in my home studio, I've been consistently teaching students in my home studio for the last 7 years. Upon graduation, I got my first music teacher position at Rishon Lezion conservatory, I taught private saxophone, flute, drums, and piano lessons as well as group music theory lessons and directed students ensembles. My experience in teaching began in college, teaching younger college students through my schools mentorship program. I also shadowed high school and middle school students lessons through the Hartt School Community division. I was able to learn to teach these students guided by several experienced and accomplished flute instructors. Now currently I am an adjunct flute instructor at NYU. I teach non-major flute students at NYU, which has allowed me to teach students with all different musical backgrounds and skill levels. Read More

I use standard method books, along with personal sheets of exercises I have developed through the years. I publish my own solo books with accompaniments, which I also use. These books are primarily classical pieces, but I also use digital accompaniments for jazz and popular music. Theory and ear training are also part of my lessons. My lesson books include Rubank books for beginning students, and Rose, Andersen, and Bassi studies for more advanced students. Read More
