I am a fun and energetic instructor who enjoys sharing my musical knowledge and pushing my students to challenge themselves. I have a Bachelor of Music as well as two Masters of Music, one in orchestral flute performance and the other specializing in contemporary performance. I enjoy many genres of music and have performed in Cabaret, jazz bands, marching bands, orchestras, chamber ensembles, and more. I use elements of Social and Emotional Learning in my teaching: students are encouraged to have their own voice in the learning process. We discuss repertoire selection, I encourage them to talk about how the music makes them feel or what they think it's trying to express. This also assists in goal setting, which I do collaboratively with the student, rather than dictate their practice regimen. I respect that lessons are probably not the only thing they're doing and I believe that respect is why students enjoy studying with me for many years. Read More

Over the years, my students have consistently placed high in the Western Region Band, Jazz Ensemble, and Orchestra, and several of them have gone on to the extremely competitive Connecticut All-State Band, Jazz Ensemble, and Orchestra. Four of my students have successfully auditioned for the summer program at Interlochen. I have had two of my high school aged students have gone on to Harvard, one to Amherst, and three to Yale - all of whom played in the Yale Concert Band, Yale Jazz Ensemble, and/or Yale Symphony Orchestra. I am a graduate student at SUNY Purchase, and will be receiving my Master's degree in Music Performance this spring. I received my Bachelor's degree in Music Performance from SUNY Fredonia in 2016. Throughout my studies, I have been fortunate enough to perform with the Western New York Chamber Orchestra and learn from renowned flutists -- including Gary Schocker, Ian Clarke, and Tara O'Connor (my current teacher). Depending on the individual needs goals of each student, I will customize lesson plans on a week-to-week basis. If there are no immediate goals for my students, I prefer to focus on classical technique and tone exercises that I compile through a variety of method books for each woodwind instrument. This includes but is not limited to: Moyse, Kroepsch, Baermann, Ferling, Shaw, Filas, Lacour, and many others. His aggressive funky style has made him a mainstay in groups like the Brian Rigby Band and SlackTide both of which tour regularly up and down the east coast.
