I typically begin my young students in the Suzuki Method for Flute, inwhich I have received the training for this method. For older students, I begin them in the Trvor Wye Method for Beginning Flute Students. I supplement both these methods with solos appropriate for their level and goals, such as UIL and other competitions. I always allow time for something fun and modern as part of the weekly practicing. Read More

As a teacher, I try not to stress rote learning but instead focus on explanations for why music works the way it does. I find that music of any genre is much easier to study if you have an understanding of the framework of what you practice. To that end, I stress technical study that works towards grooming pieces or songs for performance and make sure that my students have a complete understanding of both music and their instrument. I absolutely love teaching and have a strong passion for my students to succeed in whatever they want to do with the instrument. My teaching is very free, but at the same time quite strict. I can give the student all the tools they need not only to be successful with the instrument but hopefully fall in love with it, as I have. Read More
Instruments: Piano Saxophone Flute Clarinet
I have been teaching since age 15 (1999). In addition to extensive performing experience on clarinet, I have functioned as a piano accompanist, choir member, and praise band member through the years. As noted above, I teach clarinet, saxophone, flute, and piano. My methods vary according to each individual students' needs and goals, however I try to find the approach that will best help a student to appreciate music in general, sharpen the mind, and give each student a level of skill on their instrument that provides a sense of accomplishment. I started teaching privately when I was in high school. I taught just a couple of kids and found it fun. I was a little busy to teach in college as I was concentrating on learning to be a professional saxophonist. My teachers include Doug Heath, Bob Seligson, Terry Autry, and Todd Goranson. I was able to learn at a relatively high level in school and continued that through grad school. Read More

Hello, I am a saxophonist, composer, educator and multi-instrumentalist. I began playing the saxophone at age 12 and from the moment I first touched the horn, I was hooked. After becoming more familiar with the jazz language, I quickly became further immersed in the jazz scene back home in Dallas. During high school I performed in many jazz festivals, competitions and local bands that furthered my artistry and understanding of the music I am playing. Read More

I began teaching private flute lessons in 1988. I continued my flute studio and became a band director in 2000, and taught band in North and South Carolina until 2014. I now reside in Keller, Texas and have opened my flute studio to online students and the Keller/Fort Worth area. I am excited about teaching online because that allows me to reach students that I would never meet otherwise. Read More
