In 2007, I graduated from Baldwin-Wallace Conservatory with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Flute Performance and in 2011, I graduated from the Universtiy at Buffalo with a Master's in Music Education (NYS Certified Music Educator). I am constantly looking for new inspirations to positively affect my flute playing, which is why I love to teach! The experiences I've had with my students have helped me grow as a flautist and educator. Read More

I started teaching private students since my college years in Taiwan. When I moved to New York and pursued my degree in piano performance, I found that my passion is not as a performer, but an educator. I have noticed the need of good music education in America, and I strongly believe that we need to encourage the next generation to get close to music. Therefore, I turned to my interest to school music. Read More

I began teaching private flute lessons when I was in high school to younger students in the Amityville school district, Amityville, NY. Once I began student teaching on Long Island, I began building a small studio of flute students. I then moved to NYC where I taught in the NYC public school system for 9 years teaching 6-12 grade. In that time, I started the music program at my school where I built 5 choruses, an orchestra, recorder class, a Broadway appreciation class, a step team and completed numerous other tasks. Read More

I believe that working out of a book is a great way to cover many of the fundamental bases of being an instrumentalist, such as reading music, developing technique, developing a good sound, playing with good rhythm, etc. Read More

For beginning piano students, I enjoy the Faber Piano Adventures. As the student progresses, I guage what their interests/goals are, and choose repertoire according to their interests. For beginning oboe and woodwind students, I focus on a myriad of things that have nothing (and everything) to do with actual music: how to form a correct embouchure, correct hand and finger position, double and single reed care, instrument construction and maintenance, and finally, sound production. Instruments: Flute
My teaching style requires the students to be consistent with their practice and warm ups, which helps to make lessons more efficient and allow students to see faster improvement. For all of my students, I put a lot of emphasis on the fundamentals of a woodwind player, which focuses on student's posture, embouchure, fingering, and breath support. From studying with Carol Wincenc and Karimi Furugh, I learned how closely linked our voice is to the flute. Read More
