After graduating from college, I began teaching privately in my home state of Texas at the middle and high school levels in New Braunfels and Austin. Soon, I began teaching adults as well and when I moved to Washington D.C. in fall of 2006, I became the Music Instructor at The Art and Drama Therapy Institute, a center for adults with developmental disabilities. This experience had a great impact on me in terms of understanding the big picture in that the goals and methods relating to the technical aspects of music lessons, but the grand value that music offers in terms of the emotional and spiritual rewards as well. In May of 2023, Lynlia graduated with a Master of Arts in Performing Arts Administration at New York University. She previously received a Bachelor of Arts in Music and Chinese Language Literature at CUNY Hunter College under the Macaulay Honors Program. In 2019, Lynlia completed her capstone year in Taiwan under the American Councils Language Flagship Program, where she studied Mandarin extensively and worked as an intern at the Taiwan Philharmonic. My favorite thing about teaching is seeing the light in my students eyes in those "aha" moments when simple suggestions open up new possibilities of technique and musical expression.  I offer both Suzuki and traditional style lessons. I believe lessons should be both challenging and fun and seek to find the right balance for each student. It is my job as a teacher to find out how each of my students learn and what inspires them. I started playing flute when I was 7 years old and I've dedicate my life to music since then. I graduated from the Hight Conservatory of Music in Oviedo (Spain) with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Flute Performance, and from the International University of La Rioja (Spain) with a Master's Degree in Education. I make sure the right habits are practiced from the very beginning; warming up, sound exercises, technical exercises and the musical piece we're working on at the time. I am a multi-instumentalist/performer/teacher who loves working with students of all ages and musical backgrounds. My specialty is classical music, but I am also a singer/songwriter! I have a masters degree in Oboe Performance from the prestigious CCM, at the University of Cincinnati. I live as a freelance oboist, pianist, and vocalist in New York City, and am currently recording my first full length album.
