Instruments: Flute Piccolo
I began teaching beginner students when I was 16 years old and have been doing it ever since. It's never seemed like a "job" to me. I enjoy the excitement of a first-time student making their first sound to sight-reading duets with more experienced students. I started a flute choir at a local high school and would love to start one of my own at my studio. Keeping things fun and interesting is vital to every student's success and I pride myself on getting to know each student on a personal level to achieve this goal. Read More

The most important thing I place emphasis on in my lessons with students is individual growth. All students learn at different paces, and I believe it is important that as a teacher, I set realistic goals with my students at each lesson. When I practice, I tend to keep a journal with me to record what work I practiced that day and how I felt about the work I completed. Read More

I'm a dedicated and hard-working teacher that works to provide a consistently growing love and appreciation for music in her students. In 2016, I graduated with my Bachelor of Arts degree in Clarinet Performance at Morehead State University, and in April 2018 I graduated with my Master of Music degree at the Cincinnati-Conservatory of Music. I have performed in various professional and semi-professional musical settings including: 2 years in the Cave Run Symphony Orchestra, playing out of clarinet/flute/saxophone books for multiple musicals, and most recently traveling around the Midwest states playing clarinet for the Guerrilla Chamber Collective (a chamber group dedicated to performing new music by up-and-coming composers). For beginning students, I like to work out of the Rubank Elementary Method book. We further move on to the Intermediate and Advanced methods while also adding solo repertoire that is suitable to their skill level. Along with these method books, we will also work on music that they personally enjoy. Disney music and easy Gershwin pieces are good staples for a beginning student along with their traditional method books. Read More

I find a great sense of joy in my students developing a passion for music much like my own. It is important to me to include composition, theory, and history in my lessons so that my students can understand music as a whole, rather than just being a talented performer. My favorite part of each lesson is when students make discoveries on their own, and when they realize they are able to answer their own questions. Read More
