There is nothing more rewarding than watching a student grow as a musician and person overtime. Establishing a personal connection with them to create an environment of success is one that is always a concern of mine. Doing so will allow the student to soar to new heights and present a challenge for me to continue fostering their growth. They learn from me and I also learn from them. These are the things that make teaching rewarding for me. Read More

Although a bassoonist primarily, I've performed with orchestras such as the Kentucky Symphony Orchestra, and the Warren Philharmonic, as well as bands like the Akron Symphonic Winds, the Cleveland Winds, and the Packard Band. I have a very energetic and adaptable teaching style. Having worked with students from 3 years old to in their 30's, I can mold lessons to fit any type of attention span. I have also worked with students with special education needs and physical issues, so I can also work with parents to find ways for any student, regardless of their situation, to enjoy a life of music. I will always use positive encouragement, and pressure will never be put on students for results in a certain amount of time. Read More

I assign method books, etudes (studies), and repertoire appropriate for the playing level of the student. My teaching emphasizes fundamentals first for students of every level. This fundamental study supports students in their pursuit of their musical and artistic goals. The method books I recommend students begin with are in the Rubank series, either Beginner, Intermediate, or Advanced. Etudes to supplement will be the Cavally Melodious and Progressive studies. When students reach an appropriate level, we will select repertoire for their first recital performance! Read More

I believe that anyone has the potential to be a talented musician, regardless of age, abilities, or former experience.
