I have been teaching Prek- 8th Grade general music, choir, drama and instrumental lessons for the past 5 years. I am a 2009 graduate of Rutgers University with a BA in Music and a 2011 graduate of Teachers College, Columbia University with an MA in Music Education. To help students achieve a rich, full tone, I like to give voice exercises and body exercises to expand their vocal cords and posture to get that beautiful, rich sound. I also like to ask my students to record their own playing to compare how different the recording sounds from what they usually hear, which helps give them a better sense of what they need to improve and trains their ears to adjust to their tone, pitches, and even tempo. My teaching experience dates back to my high school days, as I began teaching private lessons part-time 8 years ago, teaching primarily young beginning and intermediate students. I have served as a teaching assistant for the 2016 Ervin Monroe Summer Flute Choir Workshop, where I played side-by-side with the members of the flute choir and offered advice and guidance. I have also served as the the primary flute instructor for the annual McCourts Music Fifth Grade Instrument Fittings in Berkley, Michigan for the past 5 years, where I work with fifth grade students teaching them how to play the flute.
