I am currently a music student at Sarah Lawrence College, where I study flute, percussion, chamber ensemble, blues ensemble, jazz ensemble, and pit music. I have been playing for 10 years as a flautist and a percussionist, and I have never stopped loving it. I started teaching private lessons during college, and I have consistently had a studio of students including elementary schoolers to adults. In my last semester of undergraduate studies, I student taught with an elementary and a high school band. My favorite thing to teach is flute lessons! I began teaching when I was in High School, where I had several students of varying ages and skill levels.  I taught private lessons in their homes.  I encourage regular practice, and weekly lessons.  A mixture of method books and my own personal written lessons I have found to be the most effective teaching strategy. Books with a variety of popular solos I also utilize.  Method books are necessary for skill, but can get boring and repetitive for younger students.  Keeping things fresh and interesting is my main focus in teaching. I normally use the Standard of Excellence method books for most of my students; however, I am open minded to adjusting to each individual student's musical needs, whether it be Jazz, Classical, or whatever style music the student is focusing on. For Drummers, I prefer the Haskell Harr Method, or the Buddy Rich Method Book, as well as the Breeze Easy Method Book. For piano instruction, I prefer the Faber Piano Method Books, as they are tailored to the students' individual needs. Read More

My experience with teaching began when I was in high school. I taught two beginner flute students until I went to college in 2012. Since then, I have had students intermittently throughout my studies, and I am looking forward to building a permanent studio in the Hudson Valley.
