After graduating from college I joined the Peace Corps. I spent 2 years in Tehran, Iran playing in the Tehran Symphony Orchestra. I returned to the U.S. and went back to school to get my Masters degree. I worked as a music teacher in the Bronx, N.Y. for several years. After that I worked at an electronic music studio in Hawthorne, N.Y. I typically teach based on my own custom lesson plan, which consists of a combination of exercises and working on specific pieces, as well as listening and sometimes composing. For online classes, I find it is useful to give students things to listen to outside of the lesson, and even for students to record themselves playing sometimes. I am a passionate flutist that loves teaching flute privately in addition to performing. In May of 2022, I graduated Summa Cum Laude from The Hartt School of Music with a BM in Flute Performance. While I was there, I studied with Janet Arms, flutist of New York City Opera. I have also extensively studied with Dr. Barbara Hopkins, Assistant Principal of The Hartford Symphony Orchestra.
