I love to see others excel in their unique gifts! I began piano as a little boy, but was discouraged from music lessons due to the teaching program. As I became older, I went from recorder, to saxophones, to improvisation, to piano, to singing, to flute, to basic wind instruments, eventually playing/composing/recording/touring with several of the most well-known of bands in the Southeastern Wisconsin area on vocals, saxophones, flute, and piano, as well as studying music at Carroll College. For beginning students who are children, I typically start with fundamentals in tone (Trevor Wye) and Moyse daily studies (I still use it myself!) . Once the student has progressed to have a grasp of the fundamentals, I will begin to introduce solo repertoire appropriate for their first recital performance. For adults, I try to find out what the student is interested in, and guide my instruction accordingly to keep the lessons engaging and fun, no matter their ability level. Read More

My teaching style as I have said is deeply rooted in fundamentals. Knowing and having an array of tone colors, articulations and dynamics will not only make your repertoire easier, but will allow it to flow more naturally, giving you more room for your creative side. Every student is different and will accelerate at their own pace, and I am willing to work with anyone who has a drive and passion for music! Read More

I have been teaching private piano lessons for almost ten years and flute for one. I love being able to work with students of all ages :) I worked for a time as the events coordinator in a nursing home and got to use music as therapy and even teach some of the senior residents! I am currently the basket ball pep band director for UW - Mikwaukee, which puts a lot of energy and fun in the way I approach music directing and teaching. Read More

Learning music entails much more than just playing a song. I am sure to incorporate theory, ear training, history, technique, and performance skills into the learning process. The goal is to teach the student to be a well-rounded musician and develop all of the skills needed to understand and fully enjoy the entire musical experience. In order to keep lessons fun, I will incorporate small rewards and am always welcoming of jokes and humor as long as our learning stays on track. Read More
