I have not yet started my teaching career but I am super excited to start gaining experience with all of you! I have taken a flute pedagogy class at my undergraduate, Gettysburg College and a woodwind and brass method class during my graduate studies at The Longy School of Music. I have much more experience performing and participating in summer flute masterclasses. I am a Suzuki and traditional teacher. I encourage public performances as often as possible and will help students identify appropriate opportunities to do so. Students who study with me drive their own education by making choices. You can choose Suzuki or traditional flute lessons. You can choose to focus mainly on classical music, modern music, pop music, or jazz music as suits your tastes. You can choose to pursue goals such as PMEA, college auditions, competitions, or a more casual learning that focuses on improving your skill without competing. Read More

I adapt my teaching style depending on the student. I'm a firm believer one can't just follow the same recipe with every student. Every person is different. My main focus with beginning students is maintaining the fun about learning as to maintain their passion for the instrument and thus really putting the effort in. At the same time I teach them music theory as well, a deeper understanding of music theory helps the instrumentalist on many levels. Read More

.I am passionate about music and the transforming power it has in people's lives. I have Suzuki teacher training in Flute Book one from East Tennesse University in 1996. I have my Masters in Education from Lehigh University. Currently I am the Music Specialist for Lehigh University's Child Care Center, and I direct the Youth Choir at St. Theresa Parish in Hellertown. I perform with the Moravian College Collegium Musicum and sing with the Allentown Diocesan Choir.  I am currently Licensed to Teach MusikGarten and plan to hold a class this Fall for 3-5 year olds. I use the following method books, depending on the age and ability of the student: Alfred, Bastian and John Thompson. For younger students (under eight years old) I usually use the Alfred all in one book.. for older children, I use the Bastian set of four books: piano performance, technic and theory. For adults and teenagers, I use the Alfred all in one adult method book. For gifted students, I use the John Thompson book (the one I learned from). Read More

My teaching style is enthusiastic. I always show my students support, even if they are feeling discouraged. If there is a problem one my face in their individual practice, I am diligent in problem solving in our lesson. I work with my students to find small scale goals to work towards, and when they reach them, we find a new goal together. Whether it is playing a chromatic scale, learning vibrato, or a tricky run in a piece, I acknowledge and celebrate for them. Read More
