I performed as a soloist as well as in a variety of ensembles throughout my life including choirs, vocal ensembles, concert bands, wind ensembles, orchestras, jazz bands, and pit orchestras. The New York-based musician is a recent recipient of a 2016 New Music USA Impact Award and a 2015 New Music USA Project Grant. ​Over the past year, Gina has performed in collaboration with artists stemming from the New York Downtown music scene incorporating classical and contemporary music, free improvisation, and electronics. I have created my own method of teaching which I have perfected over the years. I create my own exercises and practice materials based on the level and interests of each individual student. I use the software program "Finale" in order to create the musical compositions that I prepare for my students. I always accompany my students on the piano. I have taught at educational institutions including; Drew University in Madison New Jersey (saxophone, improvisation, and jazz ensemble); The International School of Brooklyn teaching music to children ages 3 to 7 years utilizing the Orff method; and the Kulanu after-school enrichment program in Stamford CT, where I coached teen jazz and klezmer ensembles. I began teaching woodwinds when I was 18 while attending Northern Illinois University. I would help junior high and high school students in the area in private lessons. At age 23 I began teaching music courses at Istanbul Bilgi University, in Turkey. After leaving Turkey in 2001, I have focused on private lessons, teaching students of all ages and ability levels.
