I began teaching in 2012 when I was awarded the Graduate Assistant position at Western Michigan University. As a G.A., I was responsible for teaching non-music majors saxophone lessons, theory and ear-training, as well as coaching ensembles. I also taught flute and clarinet at Paramount Charter Academy in Kalamazoo, Michigan to middle school students. It was a very rewarding experience to teach people of various ages, ability levels, and goals, and allowed me to refine my teaching methods based on the needs of each student. I currently teach music theory, piano, saxophone, clarinet, flute, drums, and composition at Belle Arti Center for the Performing Arts in Queens, NY. Read More

Music is all around us, and I love the process of understanding, creating and sharing my passion with my students! I have been playing clarinet for over 25 years and teaching private lessons for over 15! I also teach public school band and jazz band. I love helping my students improve and become better players and grow appreciation for music. I have a lot of experience preparing students for NYSSMA, All County and All Eastern festivals. Read More

I have beenteaching three kids and teenagers since my sophomore year of college. Ever since then, I have learned that I absolutely love teaching music! I have always liked working both kids and young adults around my age equally and I find it easy to be energetic and enthusiastic as a teacher with my students. Just this year in 2014, I graduated from Stony Brook University form the studio of Carol Wincenc with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Flute Performance. Read More

For beginners and younger students, I typically start with the Trevor Wye Beginner Method books or the Flute Student method book by Douglas Steensland. More intermediate students I will start out with the Rubank Method books. All of these books are tailored towards flute specifically, and have fairly comprehensive and progressive exercises that are very effective. I like to start out with a method book, and I can supplement with other materials to bet fit the needs of the student. Read More

While it is a learning environment, I hope for my students to enjoy and love music that they're playing. I believe that you must enjoy the process in order to make or see progress. Therefore, it is extremely important that we set realistic goals for each of their own. Accomplishments help the students and makes them eager to learn more. I like to tailor my teaching to my students' wants and needs and bring in pieces that they're interested in. Read More

I began my teaching days informally when I was still a student at Fairport High School. Some family friends wanted to learn how to play saxophone, so I began teaching them. Next thing I knew, I had a small-time music studio in my parents' basement! I was teaching saxophone as well as jazz improvisation at that time. I took a break from teaching when I went to college, and began teaching again the summer after I graduated. Read More

I began teaching flute students as a high school student myself, and taught a few lessons in college. I admit my experience is limited, but I definitely have the knowledge, the expertise, and the passion it takes to make a great teacher, as well as having several music teachers with long, successful careers in my family that I can turn to for mentoring.
