Teaching is a way for me to share my passion for music and my love of the flute. I truly enjoy helping students progress as they develop abilities on the instrument and gain understanding of how music works. It’s very rewarding to see students achieve goals, experience growth and accomplishment, and to expand their musicianship to new levels. I was raised in Ohio where I spent my early years dancing. However, as I matured I realized I didn't enjoy dancing so much as I love the music I was moving too. I started on the clarinet in middle school and continued through high school. In college I picked up other instruments as I studied to become a classroom music teacher. I was also a military wife for 16 years before my husband retired from the Navy (so I moved around a lot) and I have 3 children of my own. Read More

I have been teaching private lessons for over ten years. While pursuing my bachelor’s degree at the University of North Texas, I taught private lessons for students ranging from 10 to 17 years old. I helped them prepare for local competitions, placement playing tests, and even for their college auditions. I also coached several of my colleagues at UNT for chamber music performances, solo competitions, audition tapes, and professional auditions. During my master’s degree at Stony Brook University, I coached my colleagues who are pursuing their DMA’s, and taught an adult student working toward returning to school for a degree in music.
