As a k-12 certified music teacher I have taught music lessons privately and to ensembles. I have also taught in the classroom setting as a long term substitute band director. I am a woodwind specialist who has made a career out of performing in pit orchestras for Broadway musicals. I have performed at regional theaters in New York and Colorado and toured the United States and Canada. While in the AF, though, I've been blessed to have several part-time college teaching jobs. I taught saxophone, sax quartet and clarinet for five years at Adams State University in Colorado. For five of my six years in Illinois, I taught saxophone and sax quartet at McKendree University. I've always maintained a private studio of students ranging in age from 8 to 80+. For intermediate students I draw from my large collection of music to advance their technique and improve their expression. With more advanced students we work on specific problem areas they may be having such as tone quality, or advanced or alternate fingering techniques using music from classical, jazz and orchestral works.
