A flute teacher in Colorado Springs who delights in being a part of my students' musical journeys, I have over forty years' teaching and performing experience in the United States, Germany, and Norway. I have my Bachelor of Music in Flute Performance and performed as a part of U.S. Army Bands. Over the years I have taught in music stores, band rooms, community centers, and my home studio. Students have shown accelerated progress in tone, musicianship, and technique; consistently placed in All-County, -District, and -State Honor Bands and Orchestras; been awarded superior ratings in Solo and Ensemble Festivals; and enjoyed the weekly interaction with a trusted adult who listens and genuinely cares about each individual student. I find teaching very rewarding and love to help students learn t love the flute and music. I try to teach music theory as well as flute technique and encourage music appreciation. Challenging h student with new material each lesson and trying to find out what inspires the student helps to keep lessons challenging and interesting. I've been teaching most of my adult life. I started tutoring while still in high school, and I continued as a teaching assistant as a college student. I taught at Hope College for six years in a number of different subjects: saxophone, jazz ensembles, music theory, aural skills, piano class, and music appreciation.
