For beginning piano students, I use the Faber Piano Adventure series. This series is simple, filled with music theory, and keeps the young student motivated. For beginning flute students, I use the Trevor Wye flute instruction books, along with the curriculum that is being taught in the student's band class at school. I've been teaching most of my adult life. I started tutoring while still in high school, and I continued as a teaching assistant as a college student. I taught at Hope College for six years in a number of different subjects: saxophone, jazz ensembles, music theory, aural skills, piano class, and music appreciation.
