My teaching emphasizes development of the most important fundamentals of woodwind technique. Using a wide variety of repertoire and exercises, I focus on developing a solid foundation for tone production/intonation, articulation, and digital dexterity. At the same time, I encourage students to explore repertoire and style, both for listening and for performing, to help them find the music they really love. Nothing is more rewarding than seeing my students progress throughout lessons, and to see them get as excited about it as I do! I tailor lessons to each individual student by focusing on the areas of which they would like to improve. I help students achieve their goals by giving them specific assignments for the following lesson. Nothing is more rewarding than seeing my students progress and develop their inner musician! Therefore, it's important that each student regular communicates with me their goals in music. I encourage students to set realistic practice goals after at each lesson. Acknowledging accomplishments helps fuel a students desire to progress, and makes students eager to learn more. I began teaching flute privately in 2000, building a flute studio in Buffalo, NY of over 15 members. My students are known for their consistency in rhythm and pitch, along with their love of flute. I encourage all students to enter competitions and attend performances and masterclasses, which motivates students and encourages them to seek their own creative outlets. I've found that through combining not only flute fundamentals, but music theory, singing and movement, I have had a higher success rate for continued improvement with my students. Read More

I like to being on creating a wonderful sound, and a very good concept of rhythm which relates not only to fingers, but also and internal pulse. I like to also focus a lot on the exhale of air into the instrument, and the relationship to blowing air through technical passages.
