Hello! I hold the positions of Principal Flute with the Allentown Symphony and Second Flute and Piccolo with the Philadelphia Ballet. I am also an active freelancer in the area with groups such as the Philadelphia Pops, Opera Philadelphia, Opera Delaware, Harrisburg Symphony, and more. I hold three degrees in classical flute performance from accredited institutions where I have studied with flute greats such as Jim Walker, Marianne Gedigian, and Timothy Day, and have performed all over the country in various professional orchestras and in chamber and solo events. I also try to allow my students a chance to play something they want at the end of lessons. As my students advance we add in classical pieces as well as jazz, and improvisation. I value working with my students on a personal level to determine what their goals are for lessons, and then make a plan to address those goals to the best of my ability. For beginner students, I always focus on building a solid understanding of music reading, rhythm, fingering of notes, and general musical concepts that may be glossed over in a classroom setting (which is where many students begin their musical education). For flute, I use method books by Trevor Wye.  If the student is a beginner, I will start the student with the Beginners Book for the Flute by Trevor Wye (Book 1 and 2.)  Once the student is finished with these books, the student is now ready for the intermediate and advanced books by Trevor Wye.  It is a set of 5 books that focuses on each aspect of the flute, such as tone and technique.
