I am an Iranian-born musician that pursued a life dedicated to the midwifery of artist-led philanthropic initiatives. Later I narrowed my dedication to the community around me after the pandemic and national police brutality rise in the nation; however, I learned that my true calling is with the organizations behind the scenes striving to provide the youth with access to world-class music education. I then worked at several band programs in the Austin area, teaching private lessons and sectionals, while I was pursuing my master's degree. I tailor my lessons to the needs of the individual student. I use a combination of lesson books, solos and exercises to bring out the best performances my students can achieve at the time. I feel it is important for us to have fun while learning. I also use practice sheets as a motivational tool for children, so they can earn stickers and small prizes for putting the practice time in required to learn the skills needed to continue moving to the next level. The key ingredient to learning is interest. I believe that my students need to have an interest in what they are playing so that they can keep their minds and spirits engaged. Rudiments require attention and practice, but there is much more to learning an instrument than just technique; passion also needs nurturing. If a student is really in to Star Wars, for example, I will gladly incorporate the 'Imperial March' into their rudimentary studies. Read More

I taught music for several years in college as part of arts mentorship programs conducted in Trenton. In general I believe that music education should be inclusive and accessible to people of all backgrounds and skill levels, and I also believe strengthening foundational technique by encouraging regular practice of scales and exercises is very important. In addition to teaching classical repertoire, I'm also open to teaching any genre of music that a student might be interested in – the flute is really versatile and I'd love to work with students to explore their interests more!
