My teaching experience began in 2008, when I began teaching private lessons on various instruments, on voice, and on conducting. I later went on to teach band and choir at Cedar Bluff High School in 2011. After this, I volunteered as the band director at Valley Head High School in 2014. I have enjoyed every moment of teaching music and have taken so much from the experiences that I've had. If I was to emphasize anything about learning the art, it would be the understanding of interpretation and how to make any music into something that is uniquely yours. Read More

From there, her music career quickly blossomed and just two years later at the age of nineteen, she found herself in the beautiful city of Boston, studying classical flute performance at the renowned Berklee College of Music. In pursuit of further enrichment, Anna Kate transferred to the Boston Conservatory two years later. The mentors she’s practiced under throughout her years are highly-regarded and sought after in the community, to name a few: Patricia Surman, Wendy Rolfe, Katherine Kemler, Mihi Kim of France, Heather Yarmel, and Ann Bobo of the Boston Pops. First thing's first: 1) WHAT are you listening to, lately? 2) WHY are you interested in learning music? 3) WHERE do you hope music will take you? This helps me to find out what my student's interests are, and where their passion is. Two beginners of the same age learning the same instrument, for instance, can have vastly goals, interests, and areas of strength. For beginners: scales, simple melodic pieces, and a very basic overview of notation, key, and time. Read More
