This led me to start teaching private drum lessons, live/studio session drumming, and music production. When taking on beginner students, I typically use a blend of method books and novice musical pieces to begin to build musicianship. With intermediate musicians, I tend to seek out anything of interet to the student while incorporating harder repertoire to strengthen musicianship and to continue to peek interest in music. With adult musicians, I let them guide me to their area of interest, and I capitalize on that to guide them to better musicianship, no matter what their skill level may be. Read More

As that progresses guitar players will learn how figure out their own chord voicings and bass players will learn how to move from one chord to another in a manner that keeps the music going forward. Drummers will learn various styles of drumming from basic rock beats through various Latin and jazz styles. This means a focus on rhythm and meter, stick control, and some basic coordination. In 2015-2016 I worked at Archimedean Middle Conservatory in Miami, FL teaching 6-8th grade general music. All students learned drum rudiments and call and response techniques. I also ran an after-school drum program where students learned more complex rudiments, rhythms, and how to play as a group.
