Instruments: Guitar

My methods to teach beginning guitar are basic music reading techniques as they relate to the instrument. Teaching the fundamentals of music gives the student the ability to work on technique development. Once the fundamentals of technique and theory line up then I will begin to introduce songs and solos based on the students ability and interests. The purpose of working on songs and solos that the student wants to learn is to keep the student interested and practicing every day. Read More

Nothing is more pleasant than being able to inspire my students to become passionate in what they do, and do what they love. The first thing i do when i begin the process of teaching a student is to ask him/her what he desires to achieve with what he wants to learn, from there i establish the intensity and demand in the apprenticeship. For those who want to achieve a professional level in the instrument must compromise his effort and his time in the study of his instrument. Read More

I am a dedicated musician who has been playing the piano since age 3. In my late teens I taught myself to play the guitar and bass guitar, and I have spent my whole life learning the ins and outs of music through theory, composition, and performance. I hold no degrees or certifications other than a degree in environmental science, but I have put more hours into independent musical study than anyone my age who has chosen to pursue a degree in music. I also teach hour-long group vocal classes seasonally. On average, I teach around 30 lessons a week, mostly 30/45 minute sessions, and several hour long sessions in addition to my group classes. The majority of my instruction takes place over FaceTime/Zoom, or in the student’s home. I just recently moved back to my home of Colorado from New York City. I am now based in Denver, where I am head engineer/producer of my own recording studio, “The Mine.” Many of my longstanding students have continued with me as their teacher via Zoom/Facetime, regardless of me moving or being on tour.
