For beginning students who are children, I start with Rubank's Elementary Method book.  This will provide the student with the basic fundementals.  I will then introduce the student to a variety of solo repertoire for his or her instrument. For Beginners, I focus on music theory and the most important steps of caring for your flute. Then we branch into tone, technique, and rhythm. For my intermediate students, we start by using Taffanel and Gaubert Grand Exercises for technique. I also require my students to have Trevor Wye books for tone and technique. I'm a professional and motivated instructor who just graduated from UT Austin and would love to share music with whoever wants to learn. It has been 16 years for playing cello and orchestra whether in school and outside of school, and also for teaching experience. In 2004, I graduated from the University of Mary Hardin Baylor with a Bachelor Degree in Music Education. I've performed with the Waterloo Wind Band (Austin), the Austin Symphonic Band, the Cypress Symphonic Band, and the Shimmer Flute Choir.
