My teaching style is focused on the specific needs of the student in correspondence to their current skill level. Whether it be focusing on improving technique or gaining a deeper knowledge of music theory, I make it a point to pinpoint areas of improvement and focus on them while still keeping fun central to the lessons. I love to see my students progress and achieve their goals and I take it upon myself to make sure I'm tailoring the lessons specifically to help the student do just that. Read More

For beginner students who are children, I typically start with theSuzuki Book 1 or Hal Leonard's Essential Elements depending on the students wants/needs. I spent 8 1/2 years in Colorado Springs stationed at Peterson AFB, and I loved it! I then moved to Illinois to be stationed at Scott AFB, playing with the USAF Band of Mid-America. Read More

Then, depending on age and experience, I build a custom program for the student, which may include using various books, resources, and even materials which I have created. I have found that this is not only the most effective way for me to teach but also the most effective way to connect with students where they are and for them to learn at their own pace while also enjoying the process.
